Wall-E

-by Kim Yonick

"Wall-E" is an adorable story all age groups.

"Wall-E" follows the story line of a robot left on Earth named Wall-E (Ben Burtt) to help clean up the waste left behind by the humans. Wall-E follows the same work pattern of waking up, charging his battery and working on compacting garbage. One day the pattern is changed, when a spaceship comes to earth and Wall-E meets Eve (Elissa Knight). The two robots go on an adventure to bring the humans back to Earth. This all triggered when Wall-E shows Eve a plant.

The cast for this movie had some huge stars in it such as John Ratzenberger and Sigourney Weaver. However, there were some new voice actors such as Ben Burtt and Elissa Knight. The voice actors worked well together and their inflections helped to tell the story.

"Wall-E" stands out in the animated film because throughout the entire movie dialogue doesn't play a big part. The storyline is told through how the characters react to each other and through their motions.

Andrew Stanton has worked with animated films before such as "Finding Nemo" and "A Bug's Life." All these movies follow the same pattern as many animated films, but "Wall-E" sticks out because it doesn't have dialogue and forces the viewer to watch the reactions of the different characters.

This movie would be recommended for someone who are fans of Pixar and animated children movies.

Tropic Thunder

-by Kim Yonick

"Tropic Thunder" puts a twist on the making of movies and the actors who are part of them.

"Tropic Thunder" follows the story line of three well known actors who are helping to make a big budget war film. Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black) and Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) are thrown into a real life war situation, but Speedman still thinks he is in character. Speedman, Portnoy and Lazarus learn what it takes for real soldiers to be put into real combat situations.

The cast for the movie worked as comic relief. Stiller Black and Downey Jr. were hilarious in the movie. However, there were times in the movie when the humor wasn't present. Matthew McConaughey and Tom Cruise had small parts in the movie, that worked out well for them. Throughout the movie cameos of well known celebrities were also present in the movie.

This movie brought all spoof movies to another level. At the very beginning of the movie, there were previews. This can get confusing because the previews pop up right after watching the normal three to four minutes of previews. However, this was a very thought out movie and it adds character to the movie.

"Tropic Thunder" is just one of the many comedy movies Ben Stiller has produced. This movie falls in line with many of his films such as "Zoolander," "Starsky & Hutch" and "Blades of Glory."

This movie is recommended for anyone who is big fans of Ben Stiller, Rober Downey Jr. or Jack Black. Also recommended for anyone who likes movies done by Ben Stiller.
